Joan Artigas Planas, known as “Artigasplanas”, is a Catalian sculptor and teacher, showing in galleries throughout France, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Inspired by his father who was a painter, Joan went on to study art in Barcelona, focusing on sculpture.  He has been sculpting and teaching sculpture at the School of Arts in Barcelona for more than 30 years.

Joan’s mastery of sculpting allows his bronze figures to express movement, softness and sensuality all at once. His characters slide, dream, gaze, listen, rest or ponder in a structure of cold, rusted iron. This contradiction between the warm and cold parts of the sculpture creates a harmony within the piece, which Joan hopes speaks to the indelible strength of women.
