RONN MATTIA

SCULPTURE

Ronn Mattia, a native of Staten Island, lives in Glens Falls. Ronn’s work as an artist began over 30 years ago with the medium of glass while working with his parents in the family-stained glass business. He found himself drawn to incorporate the contrasting forms of steel and glass to represent both the strength and the fragility of nature. Recently, Ronn has incorporated Himalayan salt into his work. Rebirth, growth and change have always been central to his sculpture. Influenced by his love of nature, these ideas represent nature’s upward movement; its need to thrive. The concept of nature is evident in the form and shape of his work; a contrast to the chosen medium of discarded steel, influenced by his urban upbringing.
