CATHERINE BOHRMAN

FINE ART

Catherine Boreham Fine Artist.png

I have always been drawn to form with lines that flow. I love/need to work/create with my hands. I delight in learning not only how to make things but what quality workmanship is. After studying mechanical engineering and art at Stanford University I channeled my artistic energies and strength into carving stone. I then started hand casting my work into bronze sculpture and now luminous glass. I use 3-D scanning and computer technology to facilitate the laborious centuries-old process of enlarging sculpture from small maquettes to monumental sizes. I love size. I love how a sculpture, no matter how small, can have such presence in a space and can artistically grow if enlarged, filing space, casting more shadows, letting more light pass through its spaces.

I grew up in NYC and the Berkshire Hills. After college on the west coast, I moved back to the northeast. I am now back in Palo Alto; California yet love summering in the Berkshires. It is a very special place.
