“In my recent artworks I have been designing and shaping large, thick glass sculptures that have evocative textures and narratives. Making this art involves elements of planfulness and chance. First, I design, layer, and shape the glass into plotted designs. Then, under the tremendous heat of the kilns, the glass becomes soft and pliable and eventually cools and hardens into textured and expressive sculptures. The kilns and gravity are my collaborators – together we make large sculptural forms that embody silent, flowing narratives. “ -Bobbi Vischi

Bobbi Vischi is an award winning glass artist living in Colorado. She specializes in kilnformed and flameworked glass and creates large sculptural forms as well as wall art and vessels. Bobbi received her BFA and MFA from the University of Utah, where she performed with Ballet West and taught at the University. Bobbi enjoyed a career as a professional dancer, choreographer, guest artist, and educator for over 25 years. For the past 19 years, Bobbi has been a studio glass artist and educator, specializing in kiln glass. She was a founder, artist-in-residence, and faculty member of the Art Glass Center, Glen Echo National Park, Maryland. Bobbi is currently the artist/owner of Bobbi Vischi Art Glass Studio in the Boulder/Denver Colorado area. The studio specializes in sculptural and architectural kiln glass and offers art glass commissions. Bobbi’s art glass has received many awards and has been featured in magazines, galleries, national exhibitions, and private collections internationally.
